NBC News Digital launched an updated version of the Today application on iOS. Created by the product team at Today, along with Huge, the updated app allows users to browse “moments” from each day’s news and installment of Today in a feature called The Digest.

The Digest contains a curated list of “moments” from each day’s news stories, as well as moments from the Today show itself. These moments will reportedly contain “encouraging, empowering and entertaining” content selected from the areas of news, pop culture and lifestyle. Alongside each moment, users can browse images, quotes or videos selected by the Today editorial team.
In addition to adding The Digest, this update changed the app’s overall design. Outside of The Digest, users can now browse content in two main sections: Home and Discover. The Home section contains a curated selection of videos, features and news headlines, while the Discover section allows users to view Today content in themed categories (food, style, etc.), as well as browse featured content or search for content manually. In a statement, Ashley Parrish, executive editor of Today Digital and NBC News Lifestyle, commented:
For 65 years, Today has curated the news of the day for our audiences. This new app will deliver mobile-native content in a convenient, on-the-go experience to reach our fans wherever they are.
