Periscope Launches Sketching, Improved Viewer Stats for Streams

Periscope launched the latest version of its iOS application, which includes the sketching feature originally revealed earlier this month. The sketching feature allows users to draw pictures on their live streams, which disappear after a few seconds.
To sketch, users can tap and hold on the screen while streaming and select the Sketch option. Users can draw on their stream in the three primary colors, or use a dropper to pick a color from the live video.

Elsewhere, Periscope now provides improved viewer statistics for completed streams. This includes a graph that displays how the live viewer count changed over the course of a broadcast. The graph also marks the time when a stream received its peak viewership. Finally, this update introduces the ability for users to edit their user name within the app. Users can also now turn off video stabilization, which Periscope said may “darken broadcasts in low light conditions.”
Periscope is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
