Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony on Facebook, Instagram
The Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games Friday night prompted 109 million interactions from 52 million Facebook users and 52 million interactions from 21 million Instagram users.
Facebook said in an email to SocialTimes that 15 million users in host country Brazil were responsible for 40 million interactions, while the U.S. saw 23 million interactions from 12 million users.
The countries with the highest percentage of monthly active users who engaged with the Opening Ceremony on Facebook were:
Brazil: 13 percent
Argentina: 7 percent
Mexico: 7 percent
U.S.: 6 percent
Peru: 5 percent
