What Do Ratings and Reviews Say About Your App" (Infographic)
From retail purchases to application downloads, reviews have proven highly influential in the consumer decision-making process. While negative reviews can send a potential customer running, more than 90 percent of the top 100 apps in app stores have five-star ratings. An infographic from mobile engagement solutions provider Apptentive examines the impact of ratings and reviews on the app ecosystem.
Negative reviews and low ratings act as red flags to potential app users. Very few consumers will download one-star-rated apps, and more than one-half of those surveyed said poor ratings left them with negative impressions of brands. On the other end of the spectrum, 100 percent of the survey participants said they would download five-star apps. Here?s the thing: People are more likely to post negative reviews if they have poor customer-service experiences than if they have positive experiences. Nearly 40 percent of app users surveyed said they?d leave reviews to report bugs.
The infographic recommends prompting users, particular during ?mobile moments,? when they are most likely having positive experiences. Finally, Apptentive recommends segmenting your biggest fans–or most engaged users–with prompts because they?re most likely to leave positive reviews of your apps.
