After Ten Years Of Charm, Wonder, And Pretty Pixels, Owlboy Is Here



Wonderful. Stunning. Beautiful. Striking. Charming. All of these words do a good job of conveying just how impressed I am with a game's art or design. They all show that it has floored me, sweeping my off my feet with the artistic power behind them. Yet, when I try to use them to talk about just how good Owlboy looks, or how much fun it is to play, they feel weak. Stunted. They can't carry the weight of the sheer positivity, the raw beauty, and the delightful friendship that this game represents.

Owlboy is all of those things, but few words used to describe it will fully convey all the joy that D-Pad Studio has contained within this incredible game.
Otus, a young, mute owl boy, finds a lot of responsibility unintentionally thrust upon him after the Sky Pirates attack his home town. He's got a proud heritage to uphold as he finds himself adventuring across many different worlds, into varied caverns and dungeons, and high up into the cerulean sky. His ability to fly and lift things will help him solve puzzles and face down his enemies along the way, flitting about while carrying his best buddies (who just happen to be able to provide excellent cover fire) above danger.
And all throughout this adventure, D-Pad Studio does things with pixels that are breathtaking. Every scene is loaded with hidden details and depth, making it hard not to stop and admire every vista, every crevice, and every lost city. Even clothes flapping in the breeze capture the eye with the skil...
