Bundt, an apprentice in a magic shop, doesn't feel like they'd be getting any closer to magic than their proximity to the tools of the trade at the store. That changes when Mint the Splendid, a famous magician, tasks Bundt with exposing a fake psychic, leading them into a world of magic, fun, and a bit of danger in lighthearted visual novel Equivoque.
Equivoque takes players on a journey through the nature of truth through meeting and chatting with these various humanoid animals. While delving into the fake medium's life and trying to expose them, the player will deal with questions about whether what they're doing is right, if truth is inherently just, or if it may mean different things to different people. Its cute appearance may be disarming, but the game does attempt to explore some complex thoughts as the player works through a narrative of magicians and tricks.
As players navigate this battle between two magicians, Equivoque promises a charming story about overcoming Bundt's indecisive nature, a little bit of mystery, and a theme of questioning everything that we're told. A fine lesson these days, honestly.
