If you wanted to go into your local retail store to purchase a PS5 on launch day, you are officially out of luck. Sony has announced that all PS5 launch day consoles will be only available via online purchase. Players who are interested in trying to find a PS5 on launch day AND do not have one on preorder, will have to purchase their system strictly online. Here is the official word from the official Playstation Blog:

Hi all ? the launch of the PlayStation 5 console on November 12 (or November 19, depending on your region) is almost upon us! In the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst COVID-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.
No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) ? please don?t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.

I was HOPING to try and find a PS5 in store but it looks as though I will not be able to do this. I didn’t want to try and fight online BOTS come launch day so it looks as though I will just have to wait things out. I can see WHY they’re doing this but I wish retail stores could counter bots from purchasing the systems.
