It has been revealed that the PS5 console has now sold over 7.8 million units according to recent reports. Sales of the system have been extremely impressive since its release and continues to be hard to find at retail. Online PS5 sales continuously sell out and with an all new Ratchet and Clank game headed to the system, it’s only going to continue. Sony recently stated that it may be hard to get your hands on a PS5 system for the remainder of the year. Demand for the PS5 has been crazy and I wonder when consumers will be able to walk into their local Best Buy (or whatever retailer they prefer) and pick one up.
Earlier this month NPD stated that the PS5 was the fastest selling console in US history through its first five months of availability, both in terms of units moved and total dollar spend. Sony is indeed enjoying a very healthy start to this generation and I can’t wait to hear more. My only question is how many of these sales have been to scalpers or people looking to flip the system for a profit…
