Epic Games has invested a cool $100 million in its effort to turn Fortnite into the world?s leading esport in 2019. That has seen it dwarf every other competitive title in one fell swoop and allowed it to regain the initiative from rival battle royale games like Apex Legends. Each week a tournament carries prize money of $1 million, while New York City will host the first ever Fortnite World Cup in July. The top 100 solo players and the leading 50 duos will qualify, and each of these players will be given at least $50,000, while the winner will take home $3 million.
