2016 Digital Sales Report: Console at $6.6 Billion, Black Ops 3 #1 With Nearly $600 Million
According to SuperData, the worldwide digital games market in November 2016 grew 13% year-over-year to finish at $6.7 billion. By category, console saw the biggest gain (35%), with mobile up 19%, Premium PC up 18%, Free-to-Play MMO up 3%, and Social up 2%.
Despite the big increase in digital console revenue thanks to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1, Infinite Warfare was actually down 27% from Black Ops 3 in the same month last year.

Looking at mobile, Pokemon GO was #1 with $128 million, while Clash of Clans and Clash Royale made a combined $210 million.
SuperData also released their 2016 Year in Review, revealing that it “was the biggest year in digital games and playable media ever.” Total industry revenue was over $91 billion, with $41 billion of that spent on mobile gaming. PC was at $34 billion, with console at $6.6 billion. “The move improves margins across the board, and allows publishers to generate revenue through the sales of add-on content, expansion packs, and micro-transactions,” Super Data said of the console results.
