Homefront: The Revolution Was Less of a Success Than Deep Silver Had Hoped
When Homefront: The Revolution released in May, it suffered from performance issues and received low review scores from critics, resulting in the title becoming ‘less of a success’ than publisher Deep Silver had hoped.
In an interview with MCV, Deep Silver Global Brand and Marketing Director Paul Nicholls said the company has learnt some big lessons from Homefront, including how important quality is:
You can see in the market at the moment, quality is absolutely king and some big IPs have struggling figures at the moment. We learnt a lot of lessons about what to do going forward. Not just the quality of the product, but when we launch as well.
After praising developer Dambuster on doing a fantastic job with their post-launch patches that improved performance, Nicholls added, “We?re getting a lot of positive feedback compared to when we launched, so timing was probably the biggest lesson we have learnt there.” In 2017, Homefront: The Revolution is set to receive the Beyond the Walls single-player expansion, which will be the biggest piece of content in the Season Pass. So far, the Aftermath and The Voice of Freedom expansions have been released.
