July 2017 NPD: Crash Crashes Near the Top, Tekken Topples to the Bottom

NPD Group’s sales figures for July are out, and the figures for this month paint a very interesting picture for the industry last month. Total industry sales are up a whopping 19 percent from June, totaling $588 million spent. Analyst Mat Piscatella cited the release of Nintendo’s Splatoon 2 and ongoing sales of the Crash N.Sane Trilogy as leading factors to this growth.
Nintendo has won out July, more or less, according to Piscatella. ?Nintendo?s Splatoon 2 was the best-selling title of the month. Three of the month?s top seven best-selling games are published by Nintendo. Nintendo was also the best-selling software publisher in July.?
Other titles are showing some longevity, however. Injustice 2 manages to remain in the top 10, but Tekken 7 plummets from its top-seller place in June all the way down to the bottom of the list. Here’s are the top 20 highest selling games for July. Note that these figures don’t include digital sales for Splatoon 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, ARMS, or the PC version of Overwatch:
