Lead Animator for Anthem Leaves Bioware, Ending 17 Year Stint With Studio
Bioware?s upcoming online-focused open world shooter Anthem has just lost a key member today, as the lead animator on the project has left the studio, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Steve Gilmour, who was working as the lead animator on Anthem, had spent seventeen years working with Bioware, serving as the Lead Animator on games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Anthem is still at least a year away from release, so it?s unlikely that this change will dramatically alter the game, but it did seem like Gilmour was given some big responsibilities during his time at Bioware, so fans will no doubt be hoping the company finds a suitable replacement.
When we last heard about Anthem, it was from Bioware?s Aaron Flynn, when he likened the game to the science fantasy genre and the Marvel Universe:
It’s in a genre we call science fantasy, very much like Star Wars, very much like the Marvel Universe where you see a lot of amazing things happening, but we don’t worry too much about why they’re happening or how they’re happening; the science of it.
Mass Effect is more a real hardcore science fiction IP. [Anthem] is much more about just having fun in a game world that is really lush and exotic and really sucks you in.
Anthem is slated for launch sometime in 2018 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
