J. Jonah Jameson, editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, never misses an opportunity to express his disdain for Spider-Man. In a new trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man, Jameson refuses to withhold any punches. Not only does he question the hero’s methods, he also blames Spider-Man for Manhattan’s rising crime rate and expresses concern that even his allies are in danger. Clearly, Jameson isn’t a fan.

At its core, the trailer acts as a who’s who for Marvel’s Spider-Man. According to J. Jonah Jameson, “nutcases” are overrunning the city because of Spider-Man’s costumed antics. Electro, Vulture, and the Rhino are all called out. Even the notorious rogue Doc Ock earns a clever tease. A common criticism often leveled at superheroes is that their most notorious foes wouldn’t exist were it not for the superheroes themselves. Batman essentially creates the Joker. Would metahumans and super-powered aliens concern themselves with Metropolis if Superman hadn’t arrived" It’s debatable. In the case of Spider-Man, Jameson certainly believes Manhattan would only have to deal with “two-bit” thugs if Spider-Man allowed the cops to do their jobs.
