At E3 this year, Microsoft claimed that Xbox One Scorpio will be “the most powerful console ever built,” and after Sony’s PS4 Pro reveal yesterday, they are holding on to that claim. 
Xbox Senior Director of Product Management Albert Penello spoke with IGN after the PlayStation Meeting with the PS4 Slim and Pro, and he’s very confident that they have the better products.
I think for $299 the Xbox One S with 4K Blu-Ray, with HDR, with the upgraded controller with Bluetooth, and the new design, I think we?ve got a killer product that beats their PS4 Slim on the low end. I think that for people who care about the absolute maximum in performance, we said at E3 we?re going to be launching the most powerful console ever made. That is still true.  We were very confident when we made the announcement. It was kind of a bold thing to say, given the rumors that were out there. And I?m more confident today that we?re going to have the most powerful console ever made.
Penello did admit that Microsoft will not embrace HDR as much as Sony plans to. While Sony will make all of their PS4 systems HDR-compatible, only the Xbox One S and the upcoming Scorpio will support it. However, the Xbox One will share the same forward compatibility that the PS4 family will have with the upgraded 4K resolution as well.
