New Star Wars Battlefront II Theme Out Now, Artist Talks Process Behind it
Fans of Star Wars Battlefront II are in for a treat today, because a brand new, free theme is available now to download for the PlayStation 4. The theme, which can be found by heading over to the PlayStation Store and downloading it, features a portrait of Iden, the main character from the game?s main story mode, along with a scouting robot against a red and black backdrop.
The creator of the theme, artist Russell Walks, recently took to the PlayStation Blog to describe the process of how the theme was made and his history of Star Wars drawings. In the blog post, Walks described that he wanted to incorporate the feel of ?retro/propaganda? into the piece, and it did some across in the final product.
As for the creative process, Walks said ?First I spend a couple of days doing research ? I?m sometimes looking for images of the characters I?ll be depicting, but I also spend time just checking out art, sort of free associating and following whatever trail the web lays out for me.? He then went on to say that for this particular piece, he looked at ?vintage racing posters, WPA artwork from the 30?s, and street art created by folks like Banksy and Shepard Fairey.? There?s a ton more information to be found over at the PlayStation Blog, including some concept art on themes that didn?t make the cut from Walks, so make sure to head over there if you want to check out more, and make sure to head to the PlayStation Store to download the theme if you haven?t yet.
