New Twin-Stick Rhythm Dungeon-Crawler Soundfall is Heading to PlayStation 4



In a recent interview with VGR, indie studio Drastic Games took time to discuss their debut twin-stick, rhythmically focused shooter, Soundfall. Nick Cooper and Julian Trutmann, two alumni of Epic Games who worked on Gears of War and Fortnite, are spearheading the project. It?s set in a procedurally generated fantasy world, the laws of which are bound by the art of music.
The game will feature a handful of RPG elements, as well as a fully fleshed out single-player narrative that can be played with up to four players cooperatively.
While harmonizing with Soundfall?s refrains, players search for gear and upgrades, like one-of-a-kind weapons and legendary artifacts with audio-driven powers. A diverse roster of playable characters, each with their own distinct play-style and musical palettes, makes for compelling team-play in online and couch co-op for up to four friends. For those concerned about the game?s seeming similarities between Crypt of the NecroDancer, Trutmann had this to say:
?we?re combining a lot of the exciting games that I like ? like twin-stick shooters ? with a lot of the energy that comes along with rhythm-based games, and it?s something that we felt hadn?t been? it just caught our attention in the early days and we?re really excited about where it?s going.
