NIS Open to Developing Multiplatform Games for PS4 and Nintendo Switch

Japanese developer Nippon Ichi Software is open to the possibility of developing multiplatform titles for both PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
That’s according to CEO Sohei Shinkawa, who spoke to Famitsu about the fruitful relationship between NIS and Sony, before acknowledging the studio’s built-in fanbase on PlayStation platforms.
?That?s true. As you?ve said, we are a software company that has grown together with PlayStation, and are well aware that a lot of our fans are on PlayStation platforms. So it is not as if we will stop developing games for PlayStation. Overseas, PlayStation 4 sales are incredibly strong and we will continue making games for the PlayStation 4 platform.?
Shinkawa-san went on to highlight Japan’s shift to portable gaming consoles, and why it’s something NIS can’t simply ignore. With this in mind, developing games for PS4 and Switch simultaneously is now “very much a possibility” for the publisher, meaning the Switch port of Disgaea 5 may well be a sign of things to come. ?In Japan we can?t just ignore the move to portable gaming consoles. Our games are well suited for portable gaming, so when you think about it, it is important for PS4 and Nintendo Switch to balance each other out and do well. With that in mind, from here on multiplatform development for PS4 and Nintendo Switch is very much a possibility.?
