Report: Destiny 2 Planned for Late 2017, Will Feel Like a Completely Different Game Than Destiny



Aside from a planned 2017 release, we don’t know much about Destiny 2, but according to a new report from Kotaku, sources have said that it’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Additionally, it looks like the majority of Bungie’s 750+ employees are working on Destiny 2, with other studios like High Moon, Vicarious, and more helping with development.
Kotaku’s report further adds that they’ve heard Destiny 2 is set for a late 2017 release and Bungie wants it to feel like an entirely new game, rather than an expansion. According to one person familiar with Destiny 2, “D2 is a completely different game. The Taken King was a reboot for Destiny 1 to fix small things. This is the overhaul to fix big things.? Part of making Destiny 2 feel like a proper may include leaving behind old planets, characters, and activities. On top of this, Bungie is reportedly planning on changing up how the game world functions by making planet areas feel more populated with towns, outposts, and more interesting quests.
Meanwhile, over on NeoGAF, insider shinobi602 says he’s also heard that Bungie is planning changes to the game world. Ultimately, it appears as though the developer wants to let you make activity decisions while still in control of you character, instead of having to exit to a hub.
