Sony Announces WipEout 2048 Servers Are Set to Shut Down Next Year



We already knew yesterday that Killzone 2 and 3 would be having their online servers decommissioned, but earlier today Sony announced on their website that a handful of other games will have their servers delisted as well. PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games WipEout HD, WipEout HD Fury, and WipEout 2048 will all see their online features shut down on March 29, 2018.
The same can be said about the PlayStation 3 titles EyePet, EyePet Move Edition, and EyePet & Friends. The online features for those titles will also be decommissioned on March 29, 2018. While no reasoning was provided as to why the game would be shutting down, the games and their age/popularity likely have something to do with it, as I can?t imagine many people are still playing EyePet on the PlayStation 3. In case you missed it, yesterday, Guerrilla announced that the Killzone 2 and 3 servers would be suffering a similar fate, with their online servers set to be decommissioned on March 29, 2018 as well:

On March 29th, 2018, after more than six years of operation and countless battles between the ISA and the Helghast, the online servers for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will be decommissioned. The single player campaign for both games will remain accessible, but online play and related functionality will no longer work.
