Sony Issues Statement on Leaked No Man’s Sky Review Copies, Confirms Progress Will Be Reset
It’s no secret by now that No Man’s Sky has been leaked ahead of its launch this coming Tuesday, with some people having even already beaten the game. Not only that, but some people have even managed to get their hands on the game through various methods (shops breaking release sell dates for one).
While we already posted a story on when Sony is sending out review copies/codes to games media, I’m here right now to clarify when readers can expect our No Man’s Sky review to hit the site.
In a statement sent by Sony, they have confirmed that a pre-release patch will be rolled out on Monday, August 8, and that the saved progress of those who managed to obtain — and play — No Man’s Sky early will NOT carry over to the final game. Sony Interactive Entertainment understands that some users may have obtained early copies of the game and the only reason we have not sent out review copies yet is due to a significant pre-release patch currently scheduled for Monday, August 8. No Man?s Sky is an ambitious game and the patch is a culmination of the studio?s day-1 aspirations.
Sending out early copies of the game prior to the patch would not be a fair depiction of the game as it?s intended for consumers. For those users who have obtained early copies of No Man?s Sky, their save progress will not carry over to the final game after...
