System Shock Remake Pushed Back to 2018

Nightdive Studios, the developer behind the upcoming remake of System Shock, recently posted a development update on KickStarter. Included was a Q&A segment of frequently asked questions, and now we have a better idea of when players will be able to check out the first-person shooter. According to the team, the game is aiming to release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 by the second quarter of 2018. A simultaneous launch isn’t guaranteed, but the developer says they’ll try their best to achieve it.
That’s a slight delay from the original target date of December 2017, but those are always rough estimates. Nightdive Studio also revealed that they are working on a vertical slice of the game that will be shown off in the upcoming months. Here’s what they said: The purpose of VS (vertical slice) is mainly to answer questions. Often times on a game project, devs don?t actually know how long something will take to create. VS is a phase where a slice of the game is created with a few goals in mind:

How long will it take to create content"
What should the final visuals look like"
How should final gameplay feel"

Basically, VS lets us prove out our pipelines and narrow down how the game should and shouldn?t play. By the end of VS, we?ll have a better understanding of what we can achieve with the time/budget we have, and have a more accurate plan moving forward to create a quality game.
It seems like the studio is making progress with the remak...
