Titanfall 2 Targeting 60fps, Analysis Says Pre-Alpha PS4 Version Is 900p

Ahead of the first Multiplayer Technical Test this weekend on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Titanfall 2 Art Director Joel Emslie told DualShockers that 60 frames-per-second in both single-player and multiplayer, with low latency, is a “huge goal” for them. The resolution, meanwhile, isn’t finalized yet, as Respawn is still working towards improving it before launch on October 28.
As for the version you’ll be able to play this weekend and next weekend in the Technical Test, Digital Foundry did an analysis on a pre-alpha PS4 copy, revealing that it runs at a native 900p. You can also see in the video that the frame-rate does indeed target 60fps, but drops during action bring it down to the 50s, 40, and even 30s. Since there’s still over two months to go until Titanfall 2 is out, expect Respawn to continue to optimize the game.
If you’re looking to get into the Multiplayer Tech Test this weekend, Respawn’s Vince Zampella says it’s “supposed to open to ANYONE around 9am PST on Friday.” The file size is around 13GB and the client should be up on the PlayStation Store soon.
