Ubisoft Wants Assassin’s Creed Movie to Respect Series’ DNA, Says It’s Not a Money-Maker
Ubisoft has said that it wants to make sure that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie respects the series’ DNA but at the same time, the developer wants to be able to explore new ideas and inspirations. The aim is to ensure that the movie feels “legit” for existing fans while attracting newcomers to the franchise as well. Over on Ubisoft blog, Head of Content Aymar Azaizia said:Â
I would dare to say we don?t deal with an Assassin?s Creed community, but multiple communities ? the cosplayers, the artists on DeviantArt, and the people that are creating fan fiction and stories don?t necessarily have the same background. They don?t necessarily prefer the same things in the Assassin?s Creed universe, but what we?re trying to do is remain consistent and [be in a position] where we can deliver on all the different criteria we have for a good Assassin?s Creed project ? the elements we know we need to have whatever the form is, whether we?re talking about 2D platformers like Assassin?s Creed Chronicles or 3D games, a novel, or a movie. These elements are a part of the DNA, so what we?re trying to do is make sure the DNA is respected. On top of all of that, we?re making sure we?re able to move forward on new inspirations and ideas. We want everything to feel legit.
In a separate interview with MCV, Ubisoft acknowledged that the movie won’t be a money-maker for the company but the idea is to create “top quality entertainment,” which is good...
