Gaijin Entertainment’s massively multiplayer online air combat game War Thunder has been officially released today. Featuring aircraft and armored vehicles, the title had been in an open-beta for several years, having launched in November 2013 on PlayStation 4 in Europe (and June of 2014 in North America). The release coincides with the game’s 1.65 update titled “Way of the Samurai,” that adds Japanese ground forces and other improvements.
Long time players will be rewarded with special titles. Those that have played the game in 2016 or earlier will be treated to a “Brother in Arms” title, while those that joined in 2015 or prior will be deemed “Combat proven.” Two other titles are available as 2014 players will be called a “Faithful Warrior,” while 2013 players are “The Old Guard.” It’s definitely cool to see Gaijin Entertainment rewarding long-term players that helped the game launch.
